"What a bargain & a Big Bang for your Buck!" 2009-09-16
By tgear (Sarasota FL USA)
I have the Mitsubishi now for a couple of weeks and love it! I agree with most of all the great reviews posted here. I have not read all of them so if I mention something covered already, sorry. I have Directv with the HD DVR (HR 22) and after playing with the setup determined that setting the 1080p selection (via the remote control setup options on the Directv HR 22) was not enough for the optimum picture. I went to the HR 22 and physically selected the 1080i on right of the front panel. This seemed to give me the best resolution.

Also, I noticed a lot of owners complaining about the remote not being easy to use for adjustments (which can be a bit tricky).

This tip might make life a little easier. On the very bottom right of the remote control is a "more" button. This brings up a sub-menu that quickly lets you make adjustments for the picture, audio and even the picture mode (Wide-Normal-Zoom), that I could not find in the regular menu options.

Final verdict:

The 65 inch set is a bargain and performs beautifully. No regrets, just great enjoyment.

Now I have to buy a Bluray player!!

 "Very Pleased" 2009-09-15
By S. Dunham (oxford, nc)
We got the 65in HDTV from HSN as a TSV a couple weeks ago. It's a monster! The stand was easy to put together and the TV was light enough for my husband and I to pick up easily. Set up was a breeze. We only had regular Dish Network when we rec'd the TV but upgraded to High Def a couple days later. I thought the picture was pretty good as is. And, once the High Def was hooked up, some of the HD channels were better. I kept flipping back and forth to see how much of a difference there was and honestly....some of the HD channels weren't all that. That is...till I turned on History Channel in HD, and some of the sporting events! Oh...my...God! Those channels knocked my socks off! Apparrently, not all channels that broadcast in HD are equal. I am not a technical expert and won't even venture a guess as to why. But the really good HD channels on this TV will amaze you. I am not one that is into having the best of everything, or all the latest devices, or equipment that has 500 adjustment knobs on it. I can't be bothered with that crap. But, I know what I like and what I don't like. This TV is fantabulous. Even with a regular broadcast, the picture is sharp and bright. The colors are beautiful. With HD broadcast...it's even better.

I haven't had any problems with watching it in daylight or bright light. I can see the picture from the sides. I did hook it up to my Bose Wave Radio and it sounds great. You can't have both the TV speaker and external speaker on at the same time. You have to pick one. Oh...and another thing with the HD vs Standard....you really can see the skin imperfections and heavy make up on the actors/reporters. Yikes for them! We are thrilled with this TV and totally recommend it. I've seen the 73 in which is a little bigger in person and now I see they have an 82 inch. You would need a huge room for that TV. We have a good size den 13 x 16. There is a shelving unit and false wall that we are going to open up to move the TV into. It's better viewing the further back you sit. If you have a small room, you may want to think of getting a smaller set. Not because of the size the TV will take up, but for viewing.

I can't say enough good things about this TV. You won't be disappointed.

 "TV good Amazon Great" 2009-09-04
By Steven Katz
You can't beat the price on this TV. For the money you pay its a great set. That being said the first one I had delivered was defective. I called up Mitsubishi to get it fixed and after putzing around with them for awhile they told me to call a local serviceman. The serviceman wanted to pick up the set and take it to the shop for repairs. I called Mitsubishi and said I wanted a new TV. They told me that the warranty only covered repair not replacement. I thought this was bogus since the TV was delivered DOA. So I called Amazon and within 5 minutes they had a new TV heading my way . The new TV is working just fine. So kudos and hats off to Amazon for handling this perfectly.

 "just one drawback" 2009-08-30

I really cant add much to the good points already covered in the other reviews. It is a great tv with an out of this world picture. My only gripe is the having to replace the light bulb so much. we had to replace it already and the new bulb costs $250.00! Since this will happen once a year it seems, it kinda makes this tv a money pit. Its not hard to replace but $250 a year. Of course this depends how often you use it. We have it on all day every day just about and so it burns out fast. Another thing ive noticed is as the bulb dims so does the picture plus projection televisions have moving parts so they could wear out to. of coure an LCD tv this big would cost mega-bucks so its all reletive I guess. I just wish it had a more dependable light source.

"Best set of this size for the money" 2009-08-06
By Geedee (Murfreesboro, Tn. USA)
I have had this set for 2 weeks now and the picture is incredible, particularly with BLU-RAY. It is almost too sharp. I am running it through a Rotel pre-amp processor so I can't comment on the sound from the set.

My only gripe is with the remote, one of the worse that I have ever used.

No backlighting and the symbols are grey on black keys. You can't read them without bright lights. Fortunately I don't need it much after initial set-up. I only use the power button. Hopefully I will have as many years out of it as the "96

model Sony XBR that it replaced.
