 "Great Value" 2009-06-29
By L. Kobeski (Houston, TX)
I now have 2 of this particular model. I have many of the Monster surge protectors and think that they are the perfect mate for any home theater application.

This particular model is nice because you can hang it on the wall (included bracket) and the wires plug in sideways, allowing home theater furniture to be placed closer to the wall. You could even get away with hanging it behind a flat panel TV mounted on the wall!

Clean Power Surges are awesome!

"Monster Cable Home Theater PowerCenter installed!" 2009-06-26
By Carolina Girl (north carolina)
I'm only given it a 4 because we have not had a lot of time to use it yet, so I am being conservative. We had recently purchased a Panasonic Blu-Ray player and have a Panasonic hi-def plasma television and decided it would be nice to protect this equipment. We have frequent power surges, brief power outages, and lightning strikes have ruined a lot of our appliances over time, so we probably need all the protection we can get.

After looking at lots of reviews, including ones that I had no hope of understanding due to their highly technical nature, I decided on this surge protector. I liked the way it looks, I like the fact it was labelled for different cables and plugs, and a blue glow light is my favorite color light if I am going to be annoyed! It seems to provide a high level of protection, with a $150,000 equipment warranty.

I understand that it "cleans up" noise in people's sytem. Since we do not have much trouble with this, I can't comment on that aspect. We had to hook it up to multiple things - the wall, the TV, the DVD player, the receiver for the speakers, the cable box, and a couple of other things.

Here is my advice. It is a devil to get the coaxial cables plugged in, even with small fingers. After testing to be sure where every cord was coming from (and therefore needed to be plugged into), I would remove all the labelled cords (do label them with the provided labels) and do it in this order. We learned this by trial and error. We used the second bank of coaxial connectors only, and we had 2 to go in side by side. Put in the cable closest to the flange overhang that projects right behind them (and the reason it is so hard to get them in) first. Then get that second one in. Then you can plug in the bulky 3 prong plug to the right of those two coaxial cables, and the rest are no problem. It helped to have two people, I have smaller fingers by my husband is stronger, so I held the cords upright while he screwed them in. I am certain he would have manged this himself, but it would have been harder.

I was also a bit disturbed to read in the little booklet that came with the unit that you should unplug the power center in the event of a lightning storm. Unplug? We thought that was what it was for! I talked to a tech person at Monster and he told me that it is in fact, not neccessary to do this, that if you are not home and cannot unplug it, it should save your equipment. If it does not, you are given the coverage mentioned above. He did say they still recommend that you unplug all this stuff during a lightning storm, as that is a sure means of protection, but that in fact you can leave it plugged in. I'm still not sure why, but at least I got my basic question anwswered.

PS the blue glow does not bother either of us. You could consider covering the light in some way if it bothers you.

 "Works great!" 2009-05-18
By Robert M. Jones (Texas, USA)
I used this to hook up my new plasma TV and entertainment center. I has enough plugs for the TV, DVD player, Satellite box, Stereo Receiver, Amplifier, X-Box, Nintendo Wi and network router. Everything works great, and I have made it thru several severe storms without even worrying about power surge.

"Great bang for the buck" 2009-04-10
By Skip (NY)
I bought this to go with the new plasma and blu-ray player I bought because I felt like I had to do something to protect my investment. Amazon was selling this for about half the price anywhere else was. I hooked it all up for piece of mind and for a goof even ran the coax cable through it. To my surprise it actually cleaned up the picture enough to make a noticeable difference.

Very happy with it.

"Great produce, hope dont have to use." 2009-03-30
By Ricky A. Nobles Jr.
I dont know from personal experience, and I really hope not to. My parents had this, and recommended it to me. The transformer outside their house blew and killed the other electronics in their house, but the Big 50" Flatscreen TV.. was saved. But the surge protector... was shot.. it did its job and got fried in the process. While it has a warranty, they didnt want to be without the coverage.. so they bought another one, waiting for the other to come back and put that to use with other things. They told me this and highly recommended me to get one for my new TV as well.. so I did.
