"Excellent purchase at this point!" 2009-08-29
By D. Woods (Highlands, Texas USA)
Have only had the speakers for a couple weeks now so am technically still in the break-in period but with my past experience sound quality usually does not change drastically post break-in.

Got these on sale and absolutely love the decision to purchase. Not sure if there are another set out there in this price range that has received as many good reviews (note: there are more reviews on the Energy Take Classic 5.1 which include the subwoofer but for some reason was discontinued, speakers are identical for the 4 sattelites and center). Sound quality is robust and detail rich.

If I had to find anything to find fault in them, I would say that the center channel speaker is the only weak point I have found. However, placement makes a difference. Originally had the center channel sitting on top of TV, when lifted the speaker off of the TV and place back a bit, the sound improved noticeably. That said, I have opted to retain my Definitive Technology center channel as it is probably 3 times larger, has two midrange speakers along with tweeter and get a fuller sound with it. For smaller applications and if did not already have the Def. Tech. center would probably be satisfied with the Energy center once optimum location was found. Have these combined with a Def. Tech. sub as well.

 "Outstanding" 2009-08-26
By John M. Twitchell (Ankeny, Ia.)
These speakers are quality. They look great and they deliver splendid sound. I have yet to test them out at really loud levels because Energy recommends a 50 hour break in period before cranking up the volume. But at normal volume levels the sound is exceptionally clear and crisp. I'm especially impressed with movies. I'm hearing things that I never knew existed in my DVD movies. I have them paired with the ESW-8 subwoofer, and I can't imagine much better sound than these deliver.

 "Love Thm" 2009-08-18

I was lucky enough to buy the Energy Take Classic 5.1 (Same speakers as these but w a subwoofer included) at a great price during Circuit City's going out of business clearance. Now I understand why[...] gave the Classic 5.1 a top rating & rave review. Hooked up w Pioneer's latest 1019AH A/V receiver & I get the clarity of far more expensive speakers. I couldn't be happier. Listen to the other reviewer's advice re using the lower gauge wiring (the longer the distance between amp/receiver & the speaker = the lower gauge of wire needed). 16 Gauge works well for me w distances of less than 30'.

 "Great little speakers" 2009-08-01
By D. Carreiro (RI)
I was looking for a decent entry level speaker set. I wanted them small so I can wall mount them. After checking some speaker site, I came across these energy speakers. I never heard of this brand, so i was kind of hesitant at first. After some research, I decided to buy this set.

I am very impressed and pleased that I bought this set up. I paired it with an energy s10 sub and the sound is amazing. I definitely didn't expect these speakers to sound this good. For the money, you can't go wrong with these small(but room filling sound) speakers.

"Don't buy HTIB get this instead." 2009-07-24
By S. Glenn (Alaska)
I looked at Axiom, B&W, Klipsch, & Definitive Technology speakers first and at the $200.00/per speaker price I couldn't quite afford that. Although these can't produce the sound of the afore mentioned they do an exceptional job, and their price is just what I was looking for.

I'm coming from a THX certified cambridge 6.1 computer speaker system I had for my previous HTPC. Each of those speakers were rated at 75watts. These Energy speakers at 100watts produce better sound at higher volume levels. I have these paired with a BIC F12 sub and a Denon 790 receiver.

When money permits I'm going to upgrade to one of the above mentioned speakers for my fronts and center and use the 4 satelites from the Energy system for my surrounds. If you're looking at stepping up from a HTIB and you want value and quality this is a great choice.
