Cinemate is a good TV exention speaker system. I realize in many ways this is poor praise for such an excellent system which is a supplement to a TV speaker. I am not your normally,"what, What?" deaf guy. I seem to miss some key words and find at times I am hard of hearing. I have many "normal ears" sitting in the room and never have to turn up the volume. So this system is a blessing. I did not seek exceptional reproduction of TV but to listen normally and not miss the blurred sounds.
All of the above said, I spent years walking the electronic stores looking for a sound system that said - "made to get best sound from your TV". It does the job. Bose is a great telephone information and help company. They actually hold your telphonic hand.

Good quality sound and bass. The only bad thing is that it only comes with RCA connection and my LCD TV doesn't. I assume is because this Bose model was the first one and is been many years of technologycal updates. In case you don't have a Receiver you better check first your TV to see if it has the RCA Audio Output. Mine only has digital audio output and HDMI.

Hmmm.. my last attempt to post a review disappeared, so I'm assuming it had something in it that wasn't liked.
There are plenty of good reviews already, I just wanted to highlight 2 things:
1) if you use a Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player (or, presumably, any Samsung Blu-ray player) the universal remote pause button does not function.
2) ignore the folks who say that, since this isn't driven by your digital output, this is not a worthwhile system. I believe most normal folks with normal expectations will find this to be a great addition to a simple home theater setup.

Excellent Product !! VERY easy to set up. AWESOME, ACCURATE, sound !! All I can say about those that are giving this a negative rating is that they must NOT be able to follow directions or have a lame set up to begin with. If you want great accurate sound this is for you.
By accurate sound I am saying it is true to what you would expect to hear if you "were there". A car door shutting does not sound like a nuclear explosion as with some systems with their poor quality "amped up" noise. The Bose acustimass simply kicks ass when called upon.

First off,there are a lot of negative reviews of this unit,pretty much with the same complaints,no bass, no tone controls,no digital inputs,not enough inputs,no surround effect and too expensive. I don't know what people are complaing about, bass wise....mine has plenty of bass....not 30 hz rattle the windows bass but you are not gonna get that out of a small sub,at this price, my guess is the lows are pretty solid down to about 50 hz or so. I have 6 HD TV'S (don't ask!)from different manufacturers and all of them allow for bass and treble control,since this system is designed to operate through your TV, make your tone adustments that way,of course if you connect it directly to a dvd or Blu-Ray player,which you can do,you don't have that control but again the system was designed to work through your TV."What no digital inputs?" OK to have that option would be nice,but then again if you had that option and connected it using the digital output from the TV you would then lose your tone controls and at this price point,with a system like this, I doubt that you lose all that much going with an analog connection. Not enough inputs? Again,all you need is one,everything else is connected to your TV.Are you going to hear helicopters behind you? No you are not,and while it might be possible to achieve that effect under ideal circumstances,more than likely it ain't happenin'. However, at times,at least in my room,the soundstage can be very expansive,almost like you had speakers at the sides of you,not bad,not 5.1,but still let's try to remember what we have here, a 2.1 system. Now,I paid $392.00 including tax and 2-day shipping directly from BOSE,the unit was listed as a Refurb on the website,but you couldn't tell from it's condition. Even the packing gives no clue to it being a refurbished unit. Now for that money I got two cute sattelites, a subwoofer, an amplifier, a universal remote plus all my cables. Although I did swap out an old pair of Straightwire RCA cables instead of using the ones in the box.(A habit left over from my old Hi-Fi days I guess.)The sound of this system is great.....for what it is and for what it costs. If you are interested in it keep your expectations realistic,take the time to play with it and you might be happy with it,if not ,send it back. I was watching " X-MEN ORIGINS " tonight and it sounded great,as good as my Gallo and NAD system ..no..but the Bose was purchased for a bedroom and isn't my main listening source...but still very good! For the people who weren't happy with it...maybe you didn't set it up right...maybe your expectations were a little too high.....or maybe I just got lucky. But I would buy it again and that is the best review you can give a product!
