A friend of mine bought this the first day it was available on Amazon and raved about it. While visiting him this week, I got my first chance to use the device, and I can say I was truly impressed. I've done a lot of conference room presentations using "gryo" mouses, and none of them come close to the natural feel of the Loop. It has excellent control using slight wrist movements, and the can be aligned easily using the "Hold" button to freeze the cursor on the screen while you reposition the loop. It installs as a normal pointing device, and I didn't have any issues on my MacBook Pro or a Windows Media PC.
While I intend to use it for presentations, I can see the advantage of the Loop for people that suffer from fatigue using a normal mouse (although this is not the intended, advertised use for this device). The grip allows for a natural wrist, hand position.
Maybe not for everybody, but it works for me.

Worked on my Mac instantly after plugging the USB dongle in.
I have never used a Wii remote (or anything similar) and I was able to get the hang of this device in about a minute (the trick is to remember that it responds to movements in position, not where you aim it).
What I like most about it is that I can stretch while surfing the web, I can aim it at the ceiling, switch hands, etc., while still being in complete control of cursor position.
I'm not good enough to play diablo ii with it yet, but surfing the web is a breeze.

The bottom line is that the Loop significantly improves any HTPC.
Admittedly, it's hard to explain why - this is a product that benefits from direct experience.
That said, there are no disappointments. First, it looks and feels like nothing else. The look is cool, and yet it's relatively inconspicuous to leave it on your ottoman or side table without screaming "I'm a geek".
Next, it feels great. Lots of people watch TV with a remote in hand at all times - and the Loop just feels great in the hand. You won't want to put it down.
But the best thing is simply the way it works - it's completely intuitive. If you have a point-and-click system, this thing is simply the best way to get the most out of it. Overt, deliberate, exaggerated movements are gone. You can literally point anywhere on the screen with a subtle wrist motion, or you can use your whole arm. It works equally well both ways - It just knows what to do.
Finally, the real killer is responsiveness - there is little if any latency. You just don't fully realize how s-l-o-w other remote inputs are until you've used this for a week - and then try to go back.
After using the Loop, it's easy to believe that this is simply going to be the way all TVs work in the future. Should be standard equipment with any HTPC. Strongly recommend.

If, like me, you've become a bit of a Wii addict, you'll appreciate the Loop Pointer in your home theater. It uses a motion-sensing system somewhat similar to the Wii remote, but I've found it to be considerably more accurate at pointing to a spot on the screen (I haven't yet tried the Wii with the Motion Plus add-on that supposedly makes the Wii remote more accurate but now the bar is raised quite high) and you don't need to "aim" at the screen like you do with the Wii (and no sensor bar is required, which is something you'll appreciate if you have a five year old who's constantly moving that thing around).
I'm using it with a home theater/media center PC, and it's been pretty much just plug and play -- and a heck of a lot faster than using arrow buttons on a universal remote. Makes me wish I could use the Loop to control my TV itself, my home theater receiver, my Blu-ray disc player, etc. Hopefully that's not too far off!

I have had a Loop for few weeks... It is beyond useful! I use it both on Macs and PCs (no drivers to download). It is intuitive in use and elegant in design. The thought and design that has gone into The Loop is so seamless that you really don't understand why this was not invented before now. Then you realize, wait a minute... how does this stinking gadget know where I am in 3D space. IT IS IMPRESSIVE. Beyond the gadgetry and Star Trek appeal, the Loop opens up freedom in navigating the desktop from a distance or when busy with other tasks. It is ideal for iTunes and apple TV apps. I just keep learning more and more!
