The DS-A2x comes with an on-screen display mode (OSD) that enables you to view track lists, artists, albums, songs, genres, composers on your connected display for easy selection and navigation. If you have long lists on your iPod, you can use four page modes, Large, Medium, Small and Page, to move through the list in progressively larger steps. You'll have absolutely no need to handle your iPod while it's sitting in the DS-A2x as it comes with its own remote controller to control all basic playback functions. The remote controller also brings one-touch control for random shuffle playback over songs or albums, a resume function that will return to the track being played when the iPod is stopped or removed from the Dock and a repeat function for one track or all. You can also switch off the OSD to enjoy video playback via the DS-A2x's composite video output. The unit is very easy to hook up and use if you have an Onkyo receiver. The bottom line is that a nice home stereo system exposes the compression of the mp3 and mp4 formatted music. If you want the ability to hook up your 160 gig ipod to your home system for background music, this is perfect. If you are looking for a way to jam your favorite tunes from your ipod through your home system, this is not the best method.

This extra ipod unit for the onkyo stereo is nice. By using a wireless remote, I am able to control the stereo and Ipod dock all over the house

I bought this ipod doc to use with my Onkyo 8511 receiver. The design of the docking station is attractive, works well and easily accomidates different ipods. Setup was easy. Sound quality is excellent. The on screen display, although not hi-resolution graphics, is perfectly serviceable and a nice addition to the usual ipod dock, allowing the user to select songs easily from anywhere in a large room. The Onkyo DS-A2X works exactly as advertised.

Great quality product, works great with my Onkyo receiver.
The only complaint is the remote does not control the volume. This can be a nuisance when you need to adjust your volume on a regular basis because you have an "eclectic" music style.

I agree with some earlier reviews. Made the mistake of buying this after getting a flyer leaflet in the box for my Onkyo Home Theatre system. The HT system is awesome, the dock is worthless. OSD is like a throwback to 1970's and the video did not work with any Ipod or I Touch I own, Called customer service and they blamed my IPOD. Absolute crap. I got a Return Authorization code and they can have this trash back, Bought a DLO HD Dock, and it's great out of the box......do not waste money on this.
